While many people seem to understand CODEPINK's wholehearted commitment to nonviolence, peace and justice, some -- politicians, reporters, average Joes -- imagine CODEPINK plans to hit the conventions with visions of chaos and threats to public safety. Um, really? We're for peace. PEACE. Within the world, ourselves, and you too. ("Women For Peace" ain't our tagline for nothin'.) We want to engage, not frighten. Create conversation rather than stifle. Some organizations demonstrating at the conventions may act differently, but we're bringing creativity, spirit, hope and inspiration to all those who have been discouraged by the past eight years of a government that's chipped away at our rights and destroyed the lives of millions through war. We want change -- yes, toward peace.
