On October 5, more than 30,000 people from across Ontario rallied to commemorate a year of genocide and resistance. Yet, Israel’s escalation in Gaza, including bombings and invasions in Lebanon, continues with little opposition from political leaders. Ontario’s peace organizations are demanding an end to the violence, as well as a firm stand from the Canadian government against these atrocities by imposing an arms embargo on Israel.
“We cannot remain silent. The international community must hold Israel accountable for its continued occupation of Palestine and its aggression in Lebanon,” said Anne Kamath, spokesperson for CODEPINK Ontario. “Canada needs to act now and end its support for these inhumane acts.”
The upcoming marches aim to unite Arab communities, labor and student movements, healthcare workers, and solidarity organizations, strengthening calls for justice and peace in the Middle East.
