Thank you for signing up to our Pop Up for Peace Initiative. Change only happens when people get together to work towards stopping the injustices we live with and building alternatives. That is what the Pop Ups for Peace are all about. So, thank you to those who followed through and tried it out!
While we were at the RNC, we heard from Cleveland Pop Up for Peace organizer, April Stoltz. She learned about the Pop Up for Peace idea from one of our emails and decided to do it! She reached out to an Islamic local organization and started “Teatime for Peace,” a space for the Muslim community and the wider community to have conversations about Islamophobia and faith.
She shared that “events like these are the antidote to the hatred, fear and bigotry.” April says there have been three Teatime for Peace events so far and more churches and Mosques want to do it. “Each one is done somewhat differently but the heart of each one are the personal conversations, two one on one conversations, or sometimes table conversations.” Join April in building local peace economies and growing resilient communities.
Let me know more about yours or how we can help you. In this election cycle, it is important that we create spaces for dialogue and connection. Love trumps hate.
Love & Peace,
Mariana
