Outrage Over Obama’s Drone Policy Hits the Streets of San Francisco!
President Barack Obama paid a visit to lefty San Francisco where he received an earful from demonstrators. On Monday, November 25, 2013, he spoke at an immigration reform gathering and two high-roller fundraisers . Activists with CODEPINK, World Can’t Wait and other community groups staged two-days of protest against President Obama’s drone policy. The activists state that Obama’s drone policy is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians in Pakistan and Yemen, and since he has taken office deadly drone strikes have increased. The targeted assassinations have become easier for the Obama administration, but those targeted are denied a fair trial, imposing the death penalty regardless of the nation in which the killing is conducted.
On the eve of President Obama's visit, the films Unmanned: America's Drone War and Wounds of Waziristan were screened across the street from the SF JAZZ Center, a site for a major DCCC fundraiser. The outdoor guerrilla screening was met with an outpouring of support from the local community.
