Oregonians: Let’s ban nukes!

Oregon supporters, we need you to contact your legislators and give important testimony in support of Senate Joint Memorial 5! The memorial asks Oregon to support the global Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and is part of a nation-wide push in urging the U.S. to join the treaty. With grassroots support, we can show the world that the U.S. is serious about ending the existential threat of nuclear war!

Ask your legislator to support SJM 5

What: Senate Joint Memorial 5 hearing

When: Wednesday, April 3rd, 1 pm

Where: Senate Rules Committee, 900 Court St. NE, Salem, Oregon 97301

How to help:

  1. Ask your legislator to support SJM 5
  2. Give oral testimony at the capitol or submit a statement in writing by 11 am on April 3rd

If you can’t get to Salem to testify in person, you can support the memorial by submitting written testimony or by emailing your legislator to support SJM 5! This issue is local and global. The memorial details the negative impacts of investing in nuclear weapons, including the financial trade-offs of spending Oregonians’ taxes on nuclear weapons instead of local needs like education, health care, and the environment.

Email [email protected] if you have any questions, want help with written testimony, or if you plan to give oral testimony in Salem.

Towards a weapons-free future,
Ann, Ariel, Carley, Caroline, Jodie, Kelly, Kirsten, Lily, Maya, Mark, Medea, Nancy, Paki, Ryan, Sarah, Tighe, Ursula and Zena
