Israel is trying to sabotage diplomatic efforts between the U.S. and Iran to revive the nuclear deal. Tell Congress to raise their voices and demand Israel STOP! |
Dear friend,
Just as talks between the U.S. and Iran are taking place, on Sunday, Israel carried out a cyberattack blacking out Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. Not only could this have caused a nuclear spill, but its intention was to interfere with and sabotage the Biden administration’s aims to revive the Iran Nuclear Deal.
Contact your members of Congress now! Tell them to condemn the attack on the Natanz nuclear facility and to send a message to Israel that it must stop trying to sabotage U.S.-Iran diplomacy.
The attack on Natanz was only the latest in a series of Israeli attacks on Iran designed to scuttle negotiations. Last summer, a number of explosions attributed to Israel broke out across Iran, including a fire at the Natanz site, and in November 2020, Israeli operatives assassinated Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, Iran’s top nuclear scientist in the city of Absard outside Tehran. Had Iran responded, the U.S. might have been dragged into an all-out war.
Israeli officials have also directly lobbied the U.S. Congress to quash the deal. In 2015, Netanyahu traveled to Washington, D.C. to address a joint session of Congress in an attempt to undercut Obama’s original negotiations. This time, Mossad chief Yossi Cohen will be traveling to Washington to meet with top White House and U.S. intelligence officials, and, he hopes, with Biden directly, to convince the administration that Iran has been concealing details about its nuclear program and therefore can’t be trusted. This is indeed ironic coming from a country that, unlike Iran, actually has nuclear weapons and refuses to disclose any information about its program.
Take action now! Contact your senators and representative and tell them to make a statement condemning Israel’s attack at Natanz and Israeli interference in U.S.-Iran negotiations.
The attack occurred while U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin was in Israel meeting with Israeli officials. Rather than expressing outrage, Austin reinforced the U.S.’s “enduring and ironclad” commitment to the Jewish state. Let’s be clear. There is only one entity that can stop Netanyahu from his dangerous and vile escalation: President Biden and his administration. Tell Congress to set an example for what Biden, Austin, and Blinkin must say!
Israel isn’t the only one trying to scuttle diplomacy. So are AIPAC, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), the MEK (an Iranian former terrorist group), and Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the GOP, and certain Democratic lawmakers (Senator Menendez, we’re talking about you). Last month, AIPAC organized bipartisan letters in the House and Senate urging the Biden administration to insist on an expanded deal that included missiles, human rights, and Iran’s activities in the region. As they well know, “expanding” the deal would mean no deal at all. On April 11, the same day as the Natanz blackout, former CIA officer and FDD fellow Reuel Marc Gerecht, speaking on CNN, voiced disappointment that Trump hadn’t taken the U.S. and Iran into an all-out war.
The opponents of the Iran deal are trying to keep in place the draconian wall of sanctions that the Trump administration imposed precisely to make it more difficult for a future U.S. administration to rejoin the JCPOA. Israel is taking bold and dangerous actions that could easily result in the U.S. being dragged into war. Now, more than ever, it’s vital that the U.S. Congress shows its outrage and tells Israel to stop. Contact your senators and representative now!
