Not only has CNAS historically advocated for the expansion of war, but it also has monetary ties to weapons manufacturers like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.
One of the architects of Obama’s “Pivot to Asia,” Kurt Campbell has been pushing for war with China from the beginning. Now he continues to call for increased militarization of the Asia Pacific, for the deployment of long range missiles, submarines, and other high tech weaponry, including AI systems. This is a highly aggressive military strategy aimed at Beijing, who has repeatedly cited their allegiance to peace.
Meanwhile, communities in the Asia Pacific continue to face environmental harm and human rights abuses tied to US militarism.
We need to reestablish positive diplomacy with China and work towards a healthy, mutually beneficial relationship. War between the US and China would benefit nobody, and Kurt Campbell has motives far uglier than national security. He serves one thing only: the greed of the war economy.
