CODEPINK Demands Immediate Ceasefire and End to Genocide in Gaza and Cessation of U.S. Aid to Israel

WASHINGTON, D.C. - CODEPINK peace activists joined the largest march and protest for the liberation of Palestine today, with tens of thousands of people from across the country converging on Washington, D.C. Our unified message to the White House and Congress was clear: stop supporting and funding genocide in Gaza.

Nour Jaghama, CODEPINK's Palestinian organizer, delivered a powerful speech during the event, emphasizing the need for immediate action to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

“One of the most prominent questions we need to ask ourselves is: why we can hear these words and first hand accounts from Gaza yet the genocide still continues? Why do only 18 representatives and ONLY ONE senator support a ceasefire? And why does President Biden insist on funding Netanyahu's genocide,” she asked the crowd of nearly one hundred thousand attendees.

She then aimed her questions directly at President Biden, “Is this how you want to be remembered? A genocidal, destructive, warmonger? Shame! Look at this crowd, clearly the American people do not agree with your genocidal plans. You must call for a ceasefire now or solidify your position as one of the most inhumane presidents in American history. The American people demand a ceasefire, an end to the occupation, and the full liberation of Palestine.”

Recently House Speaker Mike Johnson announced that the House will be advancing a $14.5 billion "aid" package for Israel this week. The bill, which originated from President Biden's $105 billion supplementary funding request for various wars, underscores the government's commitment to waging and supporting conflicts regardless of the human toll.

CODEPINK is mobilizing and organizing a voting base that refuses to support elected officials complicit in genocide and those who prioritize funding the war machine over the well-being of American citizens. By galvanizing public opinion and holding politicians and the media accountable for warmongering, CODEPINK aims to redirect resources towards meeting the urgent needs of the American people.
