Peace Organizations Unite for Earth Day Die-In, Shining Light on Militarism and Climate Crisis
TROY, NY – Upper Hudson Valley CODEPINK, in collaboration with the Albany chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Palestinian Rights Committee Albany, Intersectional Eco-Liberation Movement in Albany, and Healthcare Workers for Palestine, Alban, holds an Earth Day die-in event on Saturday, April 20th. With a focus on the intersectionality of the climate crisis and the ongoing conflicts in Palestine, the gathering aims to underscore the urgent need for a global ceasefire and climate justice.
The event, titled "Gaza to Green: From a Liberated Palestine to a Liberated Planet," will commence at noon at Farmer's Market, located at 4 3rd Street, Troy, NY 12180. Participants will then clean up William D Chamberlain Riverfront Park at 255 Front Street, Troy, NY 12180.
The action aims to connect climate justice and geopolitical conflicts, particularly in Palestine. By juxtaposing the environmental consequences of militarism with local community engagement through park cleanup, the event aims to foster awareness and inspire action.
"We aspire to demonstrate to the public the critical importance of a ceasefire in Palestine, not only for the wellbeing of its people but also for the global climate," stated Evander Arrysta Iman, Co-organizer and Media Liaison for Upper Hudson Valley CODEPINK. "This event serves as a platform to unveil the greenwashing tactics employed by Israel while highlighting the complicity of imperialistic states in perpetuating capitalist colonialism."
The action is open to public participation. Masks are encouraged and will be provided.
