CODEPINK Disrupts War Criminal Jake Sullivan at AJC Global Forum
“This is not the United States of Israel”
WASHINGTON – At the American Jewish Committee’s 2024 Global Forum, CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin and peace activist Olivia DiNucci disrupted National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to call out his role in perpetuating war crimes with Israel. Security quickly removed the two from the stage.
They disrupted Sullivan at the pro-Israel lobby group’s event to remind people that murdering innocent children is not self-defense, nor is it a Jewish value. Since October 7, the United States has provided Israel with the bombs that have killed over 15,000 Palestinian children.
“We thought it was important to go in front of an audience of many thousands of people of Jewish faith to say that Jewish values are not mass murder, that Israel is committing mass murder,” explained Medea Benjamin after being removed from the event.
“Jake Sullivan is a war criminal,” she continued.
Sullivan's refusal to name this genocide for what it is has allowed Israel to continue its genocidal campaign for eight months now, resulting in the deaths of nearly 40,000 Palestinians. The backlash here in the United States has led to bigoted violence, state-sanctioned oppression, and mass arrests as thousands across the country use their first-amendment rights to dissent against their tax dollars being used to fund this genocide. No one in the Middle East or the United States has been made safer by the United States & Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people. Sullivan's support of the genocide has failed to maintain national security.
