Santa Barbara Peace Activists Mark "One Year of Genocide, One Year of Resistance" with Protest and Rally on October 5
Ventura, CA — On October 5 at 2:00 PM, CODEPINK Santa Barbara will join forces with PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation), ANSWER, Ventura for a Just Palestine, Ventura Tenants Union, Santa Barbara Tenants Union, Central Coast Antiwar Coalition, and others in a global day of action for Palestine. The protest and rally will take place at Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli Street, Ventura.
This demonstration is part of a global call to action demanding an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and U.S. complicity in Israel's regional military assaults. Activists from across the Central Coast are urging Congress and the Biden administration to halt weapons for Israel’s attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran.
“As we approach October 7th, we must demand an end to the U.S.-Israel genocide in Gaza and the attacks on Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran,” said Marcy Winograd, organizer of CODEPINK-Santa Barbara and Co-Chair of the Central Coast Antiwar Coalition.
“Congress members representing the Central Coast, including Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo, continue to vote to send arms to Israel and deny UNRWA relief to Gaza. We are calling for a U.S. arms embargo on Israel to enforce a permanent ceasefire and ensure the release of all hostages—both Israelis held in Gaza and thousands of Palestinians illegally detained in Israeli prisons," she continued.
The coalition invites the public to join them at Ventura City Hall to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and to demand an end to U.S. complicity in genocide.
