San Francisco CODEPINK To Hold Red Line Protest: Biden; Padilla, Pelosi and Israel: We Are Your Red Line
SAN FRANCISCO – Driven by grief and anger that Biden, Padilla, and Pelosi continue to make U.S. citizens pay for weapons arming Israel’s genocide in Gaza, San Francisco CODEPINK, along with other organizations, will hold a “We are your red line” action on Friday, June 7, at noon, starting at Senator Alex Padilla’s office at 333 Bush Street, and continuing at 1pm with a walk to the Israeli Consulate at 456 Montgomery St.
Padilla’s and Pelosi’s constituents are demanding an arms embargo, a ceasefire, the freeing of all hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
“Since Biden, Padilla, and Pelosi won’t draw a “red line” for Israel’s war crimes, we are going to gather and embody their red line. The Israeli attacks in Rafah are OUR red line. We say “Enough”!! We are angry and we are grieving and we will raise our voices to insist that we stop arming and defending Israel, especially now that they are mercilessly attacking civilians in Rafah. We will form an actual red line symbolizing the boundary that Israel has crossed using weapons made and furnished by the U.S. and that is unacceptable to us and the world. The action is in solidarity with the June 8 “Red Line” event which will surround the White House. Our San Francisco action on June 7 will lead the country” explained Cynthia Papermaster, San Francisco CODEPINK organizer.
Strong visuals include people dressed in red, many bloody hands, a “red line” formed by the participants, large colorful signs with demands to end the bloodshed and a “peace garden”. There will be a rally, street theater, picketing, and children's activities at this family-friendly action.
This action is co-sponsored by UC Alumni for Palestine, Veterans for Peace San Francisco, and Sonoma County For Palestine.
