“Arrest Netanyahu for Genocide” Event to Coincide with Washington D.C. Action on July 24
San Francisco, CA — On July 24, activists will gather in San Francisco to demand that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu be arrested and convicted by the International Criminal Court, that Senators Laphonza Butler and Alex Padilla stop voting to give Israel U.S. funds and weapons, an end to the killing and starvation of Gaza's people, refusal of contributions from the Israel lobby, and for the Senators to boycott Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he addresses Congress on July 24..
Date: July 24, 2024
Time: 12:00 PM
Location: One Post St., San Francisco, Senator Butler’s office
Event Highlights:
-
Mock Netanyahu Arrest: Netanyahu will be portrayed in a black and white striped prisoner suit, followed by a People's Trial featuring judges in robes and wigs and witnesses presenting evidence of war crimes, including genocide and starvation. Participants will determine guilt or innocence, and CODEPINK members, dressed in Pink Police outfits, will escort Netanyahu in an orange jumpsuit to a mock jail cell.
-
People’s Red Line: Activists will form a "People's red line" with red fabric and display the names of Gazan children killed by Netanyahu's policies along Montgomery Street, stretching from Senator Butler's office to Senator Padilla's office.
-
Rally at Padilla's Office and Children of Gaza Memorial: The event will culminate at Senator Padilla's office with a rally demanding he cease supporting the genocide, call for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages and prisoners, and the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. A display of children’s shoes, toys, flowers and photos of children killed by Israel will adorn a “Children of Gaza” memorial at 333 Bush.
"We are outraged that Republicans and Democrats have invited the genocidal war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress on July 24. We cannot remain silent in the face of the slaughter and starvation of children happening right before our eyes. We will carry out an arrest and trial of Netanyahu, citing the International Criminal Court charges and evidence, and then mourn the thousands of children Netanyahu's military has killed by displaying their names from Senator Butler's office to Senator Padilla's office. Our Senators have done nothing to stop the genocide. We're asking them to boycott Netanyahu's appearance in Congress," stated Cynthia Papermaster, CODEPINK Organizer.
This event coincides with a mass protest happening in D.C. on the 24th where peace activists intend to surround the Capitol and issue a notice of Citizen’s Arrest for Benjamin Netanyahu for crimes against humanity.
