The State Department approved a massive export of Boeing weapons to Israel. Tell Sec. Blinken to revoke the license! |
Dear friend,
On Friday, May 21st, the State Department bypassed Congress and ignored thousands of protesters around the world to approve the sale of $735 million in Boeing-made weapons to Israel. As Israel continues its brutal occupation of Palestine, we must continue to resist these horrible arms deals that enrich weapons manufacturers like Boeing at the expense of Palestinian lives.
Demand that Secretary of State Blinken stop arming Israeli apartheid!
Last week, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced legislation to block this massive weapons sale, but the State Department refused to wait for a vote. By doing so, the State Department bypassed Congress and approved the sale of more of the same weapons that Israel used to level multi-story residential buildings in Gaza.
With the license approved, the next step is pushing the State Department to revoke the export license. Without a license, Boeing cannot export these weapons to Israel. The law that dictates much of the procedure for arms sales, the Arms Export Control Act, also says that the weapons sold from the United States can only be used for “legitimate self-defense”. What about the continual bombing of a people without an army or ability to move is “self-defense”? Israel is not defending itself against Palestinians — Israel uses Boeing’s weapons to commit ethnic cleansing, which is against the Arms Export Control Act.
Tell Blinken to follow the laws of the land and revoke the license to Boeing!
The US should never be selling weapons to Israel. If the grassroots is successful in pushing against this sale, it would be historic. Sign and share CODEPINK’s petition to Blinken so we can send our message loud and clear: the people of the world are tired of Israeli apartheid and want to see a Palestine free of walls, fences, and occupation.
