"People's White House Ceasefire Now Iftar" to Be Held 7 PM Tonight in Front of the White House

WASHINGTON – CODEPINK joins the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) for a "People's White House Ceasefire Now Iftar" in front of the White House tonight, Tuesday April 2 at 7pm. This event is a response to President Biden's reportedly scaled-down Iftar dinner and is aimed at calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. 

Event Details:

• What: People's White House Ceasefire Now Iftar
  When: Tonight, April 2, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  Where: Lafayette Square, Washington, D.C., in Front of the White House

Organizers will distribute dates and water bottles to break the fast at sunset, which is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring additional food and, if possible, an umbrella. The event will conclude promptly at 8:00 PM.

In light of the White House secretly approving a new military aid package including 2,000-pound bombs and aircraft to Israel the need for solidarity and collective action has never been more apparent. The new arms packages include more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs. The 2,000-pound bombs have played a major role in Israel’s slaughter of more than 32,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children. 

Yesterday, Israel killed 7 humanitarian aid workers with World Central Kitchen in a very deliberate attack. How many more innocent people have to die? 

The "People's White House Ceasefire Now Iftar" welcomes all local Muslim community members and allies to join in this important call for peace.
