Global Outrage as War Criminal Netanyahu Walks Freely in NYC: CODEPINK and Allies Call for Justice

If elected officials won’t take a stand - the people will.

New York City, September 26, 2024 — In an act of global defiance, CODEPINK and allied organizations will convene in New York City to decry Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address at the United Nations. The rally calls for his immediate arrest on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity as the world witnesses real-time impunity for a war criminal visiting the United States.

"How can a leader responsible for the brutal ethnic cleansing of Palestinians stroll through New York without consequences?" asked Krys Cerisier, a New York resident and CODEPINK organizer. "The fact that the U.S. continues to welcome Netanyahu is not just appalling — it's a stain on our moral conscience. We cannot allow a war criminal to convince the world to support an ongoing genocide."

Event Details:

  • WHEN: September 26, 2024, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM (CDT)
  • WHERE: Bryant Park, 476 5th Ave, New York, NY 10018

The world is outraged by the blatant disregard for justice, as Netanyahu remains shielded from accountability while some of the most powerful global leaders look the other way. The United Nations General Assembly has long condemned Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine, but that is now coupled with an unprecedented surge in public opposition to Israel's occupation of Palestine. Americans are now rising to demand that their government stop enabling Israel's genocidal actions and impose an arms embargo to halt the killing.

This demonstration follows a massive protest in Washington, D.C., where thousands denounced Netanyahu's congressional address in July. Public sentiment is shifting as growing numbers of Americans no longer tolerate U.S. complicity in the mass slaughter of civilians in Gaza and across the region.

Netanyahu's reign of terror extends beyond Palestine. Recently, his government unleashed deadly airstrikes on Lebanon, killing hundreds of innocent civilians. CODEPINK and its supporters will gather outside the United Nations, amplifying the global demand for justice. It is time for world leaders to stand up to Netanyahu's war crimes rather than embracing a leader who has orchestrated countless acts of terrorism.

The message is clear: no war criminal should be allowed to walk freely, not on the streets of New York - not anywhere.
