President Biden Disrupted in Belvidere, Illinois: Protestors Call for Ceasefire in Gaza

Belvidere, IL - Palestinian youth and their allies in Illinois confronted President Biden at an event in Belvidere, Illinois on November 9.  The CODEPINK protestor who was inside the event interrupted Biden’s speech to echo the demands of the protestors outside: Call for a ceasefire in Gaza. 

“10,000 Palestinians have been killed and half of them are children. There’s a genocide happening in Gaza! Israel has ordered an evacuation of a million people- where are they supposed to go?” the CODEPINK disrupter said. 

They were removed from the event by security and rejoined the protest outside demanding Biden end US aid to Israel and call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. 

Over the past month, Gaza has endured relentless bombings, resulting in the deaths of over 10,000 people. Recent attacks on a hospital and church have further escalated the humanitarian crisis. While Biden touts the hard-fought wins of the UAW workers in Illinois he is signing off on an active genocide of Palestinians. President Biden can’t pretend to be with working people if he is green lighting the bombing of working people around the world. 

The demands put forth by the Palestinian youth and their allies are clear: President Biden must call for an immediate ceasefire.
