On January 25th, over two hundred organizations around the globe are calling for a day of action for Yemen! CODEPINK will be in the streets — you should join us (COVID safe, of course)! |
Dear friend,
January 25th could be a day that goes down in history books. Over two hundred organizations from around the world are calling for an end to the war on Yemen, and CODEPINK is one of them. Join the World Says No to War on Yemen global day of action, and RSVP to one or more of the actions taking place on January 25th! Make history with us!
There are actions happening all over the world. If you live in the US, check our website for events in Chicago, DC, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and more. If you live outside of the US, you can find actions near you on the Day of Action map. All in-person events will be COVID safe, and you can even participate from home by using our social media toolkit.
Saudi Arabia started bombing and starving Yemen in 2015 with help from the United States and several other countries. For the first time since the war started, an American president has committed to ending US involvement. January 25th will be the day we demand that Joe Biden keep those promises, and that countries all over the world put a stop to the Saudi-UAE war on the Yemeni people.
The day of action comes at a critical tipping point. If countries don’t take immediate action, many more Yemeni civilians will die. Trump and his partner-in-war-crimes Mike Pompeo used their last few days in office to inflict as much pain as possible. Pompeo designated the Houthis in Yemen as a terrorist organization, and we are also calling on the Biden administration to immediately reverse that designation. Sign the petition to reverse the terrorist designation here.
There are three main ways you can take action for Yemen on January 25th and be part of the global community calling for an end to this devastating war:
- RSVP to one of the actions in the US and online listed on our World Says No To War on Yemen page. RSVP to an action happening outside of the US here.
- Use our social media toolkit to make Yemen trend!
- Sign the petition to the Biden Administration demanding that he reverse the terrorist designation of the Houthis on day one!
I always hope the next email I write will be one of celebration, one sharing the joyous news that the war has ended and the perpetrators are being held accountable. Ending the war is first, justice for Yemen is next, so while I am optimistic and hopeful the war will end soon, I am happy that we have so many people in this movement with us. We are in this together, and I hope to see you online and in the streets.
