So. California Grassroots & National Groups Call Out Citibank’s Support for Genocide in Gaza
LOS ANGELES - Anti-war groups, educators, Jewish activists, health care workers, women’s groups and grass-roots organizers from the many immigrant communities of Los Angeles will gather to protest the genocide in Gaza in front of Citibank in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept 21st at 11 am.
Citibank is just one of the multi-national banks, corporations and weapons makers who are profiteering on the US/Israeli onslaught. They are all partners in a campaign of genocide.
What: Protest at Citibank
When: 11 am, Saturday, September 21
Where: 3530 Wilshire Blvd, Koreatown, Los Angeles
Citibank extended a $2.5 billion loan to Israel to help them buy F-35 jets. US taxpayers are now paying back that loan with interest. The jets have played a major part in the horrifying onslaught in Gaza. Nearly 42,000 people have been killed since October 7th, 2023. Said John Parker, founder of the Harriet Tubman Center for Social Justice, “Nearly every day there is an assault on people fleeing the bombs and bullets – including little children. That death toll of almost 42,000 includes about 17,000 children, and it’s reported that 4,000 are still buried under the rubble, and another 17,000 are missing.” Respected medical journal, The Lancet, projected weeks ago, that when indirect and unconfirmed deaths are calculated the real death toll will be 186,000. As the genocide continues, that number will, of course, rise.
The Biden Harris administration with the help of Congress have given tens of billions of dollars in weapons to Israel for this that should have been spent on peoples’ needs at home. There are 650,000 people homeless in the US, 14 million children are ‘food insecure,’ and nearly 40-million people live in poverty.
All those profiting from this horrifying campaign, and the White House and Congress must answer for this crime against humanity.
