Los Angeles to Protest Biden's Visit Amidst Calls for an End to Palestinian Genocide.
LOS ANGELES, CA - In a display of solidarity and advocacy, leading activist groups, including CODEPINK, PSL-LA, and the Palestinian Youth Movement, are set to gather on Friday, December 8, 2023, to vehemently protest President Biden's fundraising visit to Los Angeles. The coalition calls for an immediate end to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Commencing with a private dinner on Friday, President Biden is in town to raise substantial funds and attract a high-profile audience of celebrities throughout his weekend in Hollywood. However, in stark contrast, a groundswell of Angelenos, standing firmly in solidarity with Palestine, aims to convey the unignorable message “you can’t hide from genocide” to the President during this pivotal election cycle.
The juxtaposition of glamorous fundraising and the stark reality of US-made bombs causing immense suffering to Palestinians, particularly women and children, cannot be ignored. The people of Los Angeles refuse to tolerate such actions and are determined to make their dissent heard on Friday.
“Shame on Hollywood and President Biden for both silencing the voices outraged by this brutal genocide of the Palestinian people and cheerleading it on. This is not a narrative spin, it is a horrific unspeakable crime against humanity. And they are partying??? Shame!” proclaimed Jodie Evans, co-founder of CODEPINK ahead of Friday’s action.
Event Details:
- Date: Friday, December 8, 2023
- Time: 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm (PST)
- Location: Holmby Park, 601 Club View Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90024
The scheduled demonstration aims to highlight the contradiction of extravagant fundraising in the midst of ongoing attack on Gaza. Its purpose is to send a strong message that the residents of Los Angeles refuse to be complicit in endorsing genocide and want to make it clear to President Biden that he is not embraced in this community.
