The Peoples Marketplace Launches to Celebrate and Empower Diaspora Communities

CHINO – The Peoples Marketplace is thrilled to announce its grand opening, offering a unique platform for independent creatives and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and connect with a supportive community. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Diaspora Peoples Place empowerment grants and the Delia Arts Foundation Programs in Gaza and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Event Details:

Date: August 10 and 11
Time: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Location: Chaffey College Chino, 5890 College Park Ave, Chino, CA 91710

The Peoples Marketplace, an alternative marketplace supporting the BDS movement, will host this two-day tabling event in collaboration with Diaspora Peoples Place. Attendees can look forward to an enriching experience featuring a wide array of cultural expressions and activities.

Key Features of The Peoples Marketplace:

  • Diverse Artisans: A curated selection of vendors representing various diaspora communities, offering handmade goods, traditional crafts, and contemporary designs.
  • Halal Street Food Fest: An array of halal food options that reflect the rich culinary traditions of different cultures. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket and enjoy their meals on our large grassy picnic area.
  • Community Engagement: Events and activities for all ages that promote cultural exchange, social justice, and solidarity among participants.
  • Support for Creatives: Empowerment grants for participating independent artists and entrepreneurs funded by ticket proceeds.

"The solidarity movements in the streets and on campuses were powerful inspirations for creating The Peoples Marketplace. We wanted to create a space where all diaspora communities could come together, share their unique cultural expressions, and engage in each other's causes. By uniting as a bloc of diasporic peoples, we can increase our political power," explains Soha Yassine, Founder of Diaspora Peoples' Place.
