CODEPINK Disrupts House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee Hearing to Protest U.S. Actions  Against Yemen

WASHINGTON - Peace activists from CODEPINK, joined by others, disrupted a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing today, to denounce U.S. actions in Yemen amidst testimony from former CIA, Pentagon, and State Department officials regarding perceived threats from Houthi forces to American interests.

The disruption occurred against the backdrop of escalating tensions, where Houthi forces are taking measures to address Israel's genocide against Palestinians. Asserting their rights under international law, the Houthis have redirected commercial ships that could potentially aid Israel's military endeavors.

"It's imperative to understand that the Houthis are not targeting civilians nor posing a direct threat to the United States," stated a representative of CODEPINK. "Their actions are a response to the grave injustices being perpetrated against Palestinians.

Instead of addressing this root cause, U.S. officials are escalating deadly attacks on one of the most impoverished and devastated nations in the Middle East and attempting to drag the United States in a wider regional war with Iran.

“Keep feminism out of your mouth!” shouted one of the protesters when a republican member of the House committee had the nerve to evoke “women’s rights” as a reason to attack Iran.

CODEPINK and its allies call for an immediate cessation of U.S. military intervention in Yemen and all other Middle East nations and urge the government to prioritize peace and justice by immediately ending all funds and military aid to Israel.
