FARGO, ND -- CODEPINK Fargo Moorhead will march in solidarity on Saturday advocating for an immediate ceasefire and an end the genocide in Gaza committed by Israel and funded and supported by the United States. The demonstration will commence outside of Fargo City Hall, proceeding to Moorhead's Human Rights Commission, aiming to raise awareness and prompt action for peace.
The schedule for the event is as follows:
-
3:45pm: Gather at Fargo City Hall Lawn for Sit-in
-
4:30pm: Commence March to Hjemkomst Center
-
5:00pm: Arrive at Moorhead Human Rights Commission Meeting
Date & Time: February 29, 2024, from 3:45pm to 5:00pm (CST)
Location: Fargo City Hall, 225 4th St N, Fargo, ND 58102, United States
“We are hoping to send a message to our local leaders that we shouldn’t stay silent on such a dire crisis fueled by millions of our own community’s tax dollars,” says Kyle Feldhake, a member of CODEPINK Fargo-Moorhead. “The deaths and famine in Gaza are only getting worse, and likewise, the calls from the community to support a peaceful settlement are only growing.”
Recently, the Human Rights commision in Fargo unanimously passed a ceasefire resolution calling for the United States to take action to end the genocide. That resolution will now go to the city council. Peace activists in Moorhead are in the process of doing the same.
