U.S. Flotilla Participants Return from Israeli prison After Attempting to Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Gaza; Media Gaggle Available
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Adnaan and Tor Stumo, U.S. citizens recently released from Israeli detention, will be available to address the media upon their return to the United States. Dozens of friends and family members will be gathered at Dulles Airport to welcome them upon their arrival on Friday morning. A brief press gaggle is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET at Dulles International Airport, pending their arrival.
The arrival and press gaggle will also be livestreamed here.
The Stumo brothers were detained by Israeli authorities while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Adnaan was aboard the vessel Mikeno, and Tor was on the Huga when both boats were intercepted by the Israeli Navy. Both vessels were part of a flotilla aiming to provide lifesaving aid to Palestinians in Gaza, which is systematically and purposely being restricted by Israel as part of Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza.
The brothers will be available to recount their experiences, including the goal of their mission, the attacks on the vessels, the interception and abduction of participants, and their time in Israeli custody, which included abuse and mistreatment. They can also speak to the broader implications of their mission, including the decades-long illegal blockade, as well as bring focus to the over 10,000 illegally detained Palestinian prisoners also imprisoned by Israel.
Additional press availability includes their mother, Nadia Milleron, who flew to DC to advocate to US elected officials to help get her sons home, and Sumer, spokesperson for the Global Movement to Gaza, USA East Coast.
