Upper Hudson CODEPINK and Women Against War to Hold Vigil and Leaflet at Empire State Food Festival in Albany

Albany, NY — Upper Hudson CODEPINK will join Women Against War in a peaceful vigil and leaflet distribution at the Empire State Food Festival in Albany, New York, on August 14, 2024. This collaboration continues Women Against War's longstanding tradition of advocacy at this popular summer event, which features a diverse array of food from various cultures and attracts large crowds, including state workers and the general public.

Participants in the vigil will hold banners displaying powerful messages such as “Ceasefire Now,” “Arms Feed War Not Children,” “Diplomacy Not Bombs,” and “War Is Not the Answer.” Leafleters will circulate among the festival-goers, engaging the community with information and dialogue. This action is part of a broader summer initiative by Women Against War, which includes leafleting at various food markets throughout the area to spread the same message of peace.

Event Details:

  • Date: August 14, 2024

  • Time: 12:00 PM

  • Location: Empire State Plaza, near the State Street entrance, Albany, New York

This event is aligned with the global campaign advocating for the end to the genocide in Gaza and the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
