EARTH RAVE PROTEST AGAINST CLIMATE AND ECONOMIC INJUSTICE
CODEPINK JOINS STREET DANCE PARTY TO HIGHLIGHT THE INTERSECTION OF MILITARISM AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS
New York, NY - CODEPINK partners with Rave Revolution, an international organization committed to ending the pursuit of infinite economic growth, to host an Earth Rave protest on April 21, 2023. The protest aims to draw attention to the direct cause and effect relationship between the current economic system and climate change, rising costs of living, increasing inequality, and the intersection of militarism and the climate crisis. Earth Rave protests will also take place in London and Rome on Earth Day, April 22, 2023.
Dance has a long history of serving as a powerful symbol of resilience and resistance against oppression and injustice. In light of the numerous pressing issues that society faces today, Rave Revolution harnesses the power of dance and art as a form of protest, providing a way for people to unite, express themselves creatively, and take action, all while fostering a sense of community and hope for a better future.
We invite all members of the media to cover this important event and help spread the message about the urgent need to abolish Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The organization advocates for a more sustainable means of measuring the health of our society, the Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI), to address the climate and cost-of-living crisis.

Immediate Demand
Rave Revolution demands the adoption of the GPI as the primary metric of economic well-being, instead of GDP. The pursuit of infinite economic growth, as measured by GDP, leads to environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and exacerbation of climate change. It also causes social and economic inequality, resulting in poverty, political instability, and other issues. The GPI takes into account non-economic benefits and costs and is designed to be an indicator of sustainable economic well-being, as shown in the proposed bill GPI Act of 2021.
