Central Coast Antiwar Coalition, CODEPINK-Santa Barbara, Jewish Voice for Peace-Santa Barbara and Tri-Counties Palestine Solidarity Network Protest Congressman Carbajal’s Support for Genocide

On October 7th, Groups Demand Congressman Carbajal Vote NO on More Weapons for Israel and YES to Restoration of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Santa Barbara, CA –– In a congressional district-wide effort encompassing three counties, the Central Coast Antiwar Coalition, CODEPINK-Santa Barbara, Jewish Voice for Peace-Santa Barbara and the Tri-Counties Palestine Solidarity Network will hold protests on Monday, October 7th, against Congressman Salud Carbajal's votes for billions of dollars in  weapons for Israel amidst its genocide in Gaza. In addition, the group's supporters in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo will deliver a letter to Carbajal signed by hundreds of constituents in the 24th congressional district. The letter demands Carbajal stop voting arms for Israel and support restoration of UNRWA relief to Gaza.

Event Details:

Date/Time: Monday, October 7, 2024, 11 AM
Location: 125 East De La Guerra (street parking available)

Constituents are demanding an end to the United States’ complicity in genocide in Gaza and a halt to U.S. military involvement in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

"Congressman Carbajal is spending our tax dollars on mass murder in Palestine, thereby disregarding national and international law," says CODEPINK organizer Marcy Winograd. "Congress' reckless actions are risking a wider war across the region, from the West Bank to Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. Endless war is not the answer to October 7th; the answer is equality and dignity for all who live in Palestine. We demand an arms embargo on Israel to enforce a permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages, including Israelis held in Gaza and thousands of Palestinians illegally detained in Israeli-run prisons.”

During the action, the coalition will deliver a letter to Congressman Carbajal, urging him to vote against any future weapons shipments to Israel and oppose U.S. weaponization of  regional wars in the Middle East. The letter will also call for the restoration of critical humanitarian aid to Gaza, as the people there face famine, displacement and devastation.

Reads the letter to Carbajal, “We urge you to invoke the Leahy Law, Arms Export Control Act, and Foreign Assistance Act, and lead efforts in Congress to halt all weapons transfers to Israel. Your support for these transfers, despite Israel's violations, tarnishes your record and fuels ongoing atrocities. How many more innocent lives must be lost before you stop funding this suffering?”
