CODEPINK and Allies to Protest Congresswoman Julia Brownley Over Support for Israeli’s Genocide in Gaza
THOUSAND OAKS, CA – CODEPINK LA, alongside Venturans for a Just Palestine, Topanga Peace Alliance, and Veterans for Peace LA and Ventura, will gather to protest Congresswoman Julia Brownley’s ongoing support of Israeli militarism, weapons sales, and her acceptance of donations from AIPAC.
Where: 223 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, Suite 220, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
When: September 26, 2024, 4:00 PM PT
Despite her image as a feminist leader, Brownley’s backing of military funding to Israel contradicts feminist values. Last month, a crowd of 55 people gathered outside her office protesting Brownley’s vote to send $14 billion in weapons to Israel, as well as her support for cutting UNRWA funding, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Since then, Brownley has reaffirmed her commitment to AIPAC and Israeli policies, even as violence has escalated in the West Bank. Her acceptance of AIPAC donations and unwavering support for Israeli militarism directly fuels the violence and oppression faced by Palestinians.
CODEPINK believes this is not only a betrayal of feminist principles but also a failure to stand on the right side of history. The protest calls on Congresswoman Brownley to reject militarism and imperialism, and to take a stand for peace and justice in Palestine.
