Bay Area CODEPINK to Hold Let Gaza Live Event: Celebrate International Day of Peace in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – On September 21, 2024, in recognition of the International Day of Peace, a diverse coalition of peace and justice organizations will host a powerful and visually engaging event at the San Francisco Civic Center Plaza. Organized by CODEPINK Bay Area, Pathways to Peace, Veterans for Peace, Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center, Haiti Action Committee, NorCal Sabeel, and the BFUU Social Justice Committee, the event aims to raise awareness and promote a message of peace, justice, and solidarity for Gaza.
“International Day of Peace, September 21, is an opportunity for us to join our voices together for an end to U.S. arms to Israel, an end to the Israeli occupation of Gaza, and to restore funding for UNRWA, release hostages and prisoners, allow sufficient humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, and uphold international law against genocide and occupation,” explains CODEPINK San Francisco organizer Cynthia Papermaster.
Date: September 21, 2024
Time: 12:00 PM
Location: SF Civic Center Plaza (in front of City Hall), 355 McAllister St.
This event will feature colorful posters and banners, a giant peace dove, sidewalk chalking, inviting participants of all ages to engage in creative expressions of peace. Children’s activities will teach peace and connection with Palestine.
All members of the community are invited to join this day of global solidarity to amplify the call for peace and justice in Gaza. Let’s come together to create a future where all people can live in dignity, free from violence and oppression.
