The first 100 days of a presidency are critical. They will set the tone for the next four years. It’s important that we make sure our demands are heard early on. Let Trump know our peace activist agenda and what we demand he accomplish in the first 100 days!
President Trump,
We, the undersigned, encourage you to pursue the policies of peace and justice in your first 100 days in office. We’ve come up with a list of actionable items that you should be able to accomplish through executive power, without any help from Congress. We hope you will see these demands as a way to bring peace and promote accountability not only over the next 100 days, but also throughout the next four years.
We demand you:
- Exercise diplomacy between Russia and Ukraine, and meet with Putin and Zelenskyy in order to secure a ceasefire deal.
- End weapons shipments to Ukraine. Work with the State Department to pause any outstanding shipments and decline to approve new ones.
- End the embargo on Cuba, remove the over 200 sanctions you imposed it, and remove it from the State Sponsor of Terrorism list.
- End weapons shipments to Israel. Work with the State Department to pause any outstanding shipments and decline to approve any new ones. Pausing shipments will help maintain the ceasefire that your administration played a key role in negotiating.
- End tariffs on green technology from China, and start cooperating with China on global climate initiatives to save the planet instead of spending billions preparing for war.
- Push Congress and the Department of Government Efficiency to cut the Pentagon budget. The Pentagon has never passed an audit and takes nearly $1 trillion tax dollars a year, which instead could be used to improve the lives of working class people.
- Don’t impose any new sanctions and lift existing sanctions on countries like North Korea, Syria, and Russia. Sanctions hurt ordinary people.
- Recognize the contributions of immigrants to the United States. Re-evaluate your policy on deportations that would separate families.
We hope to see progress towards these demands soon. The people, the planet, and the future depend on it.
Sincerely,
