Tell your Senators to stop U.S. involvement in Yemen before the ceasefire expires! |
Dear friend,
Before the month of Ramadan, the Saudi-led coalition came to an agreement for a ceasefire with the Houthis in Yemen. The ceasefire lasted, but now it's set to expire in just a few days. For months Yemen went without constant aerial bombardment, the kind the Yemeni people have experienced since 2015. We can't go back now!
Since the Yemen war started in 2015, the situation quickly spiraled into what the UN refers to as “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.” Because of activists like you, the tides began to change here in the U.S., but Biden hasn't ended all U.S. support for the war. A War Powers Resolution (WPR) effort, which is Congress’s way of reclaiming war-making powers from the President, is our main course of action. Now, another WPR is in Congress!
A few years ago, a historic WPR for Yemen passed. It was bipartisan and made it through Congress only to be vetoed by then-President Trump. Chances are, your representative and senators want to end the war in Yemen.
The U.S. provides spare parts transfers and repairs to the Saudi Royal Air Force. If the WPR passes, that would have to come to an end.
Join our 30 minute emergency action call today at 2PM ET to help us pass the War Powers Resolution!
Your dedication to the cause led us to this point. We must all come together and speak out against this horrible war.
Toward peace,
Danaka & the whole CODEPINK Team
