The United Nations recently warned that “states and companies must end arms transfers to Israel immediately or risk responsibility for human rights violations,” and an Amnesty International report from April of 2024 found that weapons specifically made in the U.S. were used by Israel to violate both international and U.S. law. We know Israel relies on U.S. weapons to continue committing genocide in Gaza, so the U.S. government should take swift action to ensure this genocide ceases or at least have an interest in NOT being charged with international war crimes.
Unsurprisingly, the U.S. government is doing exactly the opposite. Congressmen Gregorgy Meeks and Ben Cardin recently approved a multi-billion dollar arms sale to Israel including 50 F-15 fighter jets worth $18 billion. Israel uses F-15 fighter jets to bomb Gaza, and they’ve played a crucial role in the ongoing genocide that has murdered well over 40,000 Palestinians.
Congress has an opportunity to stop this — but we don’t have much time. After Congress is notified of the arms sale, they can file something called a joint resolution of disapproval (JRD), but they only have 15 days to block this murderous arms sale. Sign the petition below AND send a letter directly to your member of Congress telling them to support a JRD against the multi-billion dollar arms sale to Israel!!
Note: Anyone can sign the petition, but only U.S. residents can send a letter to Congress.
United States Congress,
We, the undersigned concerned individuals, want to be crystal clear in our demand that you support a joint resolution of disapproval opposing Congressmen Meeks and Cardin’s multi-billion dollar arms sale to Israel.
The United Nations recently warned that “states and companies must end arms transfers to Israel immediately or risk responsibility for human rights violations,” and an Amnesty International report from April of 2024 found that weapons specifically made in the U.S. were used by Israel to violate both international and U.S. law. Israel relies on U.S. weapons to continue committing genocide in Gaza, so the U.S. government should take swift action to ensure this genocide ceases or at least have an interest in NOT being charged with international war crimes.
Despite this clear warning, and the piles of evidence pointing to the fact that Israel uses U.S. weapons to commit war crimes, Congressmen Gregorgy Meeks and Ben Cardin recently approved a multi-billion dollar arms sale to Israel including 50 F-15 fighter jets worth $18 billion. Israel uses F-15 fighter jets to bomb Gaza, and they’ve played a crucial role in the ongoing genocide that has murdered well over 40,000 Palestinians. Who is benefitting from this arms sale besides weapons companies and the genocidal Israeli government? You were not elected to represent them, you were elected to represent the American people, who have been begging for a ceasefire and the cessation of arms sales to Israel. They have been completely ignored, along with the rest of the world which overwhelmingly supports a ceasefire.
Israel’s destruction is not confined to Gaza, the entire region is at risk because of Israel’s genocidal campaign. The escalations between Hezbollah and Israel are putting us on track for a full-scale regional war. Hezbollah made their demands clear: they will not stop their attacks until there is a ceasefire in Gaza. We know the facts of the matter, so why ignore the obvious solution in front of our faces? The US must stop sending weapons to Israel if we want to avoid another world war, and right now, it’s doing the exact opposite.
It’s not too late for you to stop this. After Congress is notified of this sale, you have 15 days to submit a joint resolution of disapproval (JRD) to stop it. We vehemently demand that you oppose this arms sale — namely the 50 F-15 fighter jets that will inevitably be used to murder more Palestinian children. When the JRD comes to the floor, vote yes. Make a statement expressing your opposition. Make your stance on genocide clear, unable to be misinterpreted. We are watching, and your action, or inaction, during this time will be noted, documented, and cemented in history, so make the right decision.
