On September 20th, thousands will converge on NYC for the "Make Billionaires Pay March" with the following demands:
🔥 Shut down billionaires. Fund our future.
✊ Shut down fascists. Protect migrants and the global majority.
🌍 Shut down polluters. Defend Mother Earth.
None of this is possible without bringing down the war economy:
We know that we need to call out the billionaire war profiteers, investors in the weapons manufacturers, fossil fuel executives that rely on war to extract from the earth, and tech companies that contract with the Pentagon.
We know that fascism is built on the war economy-- from the militarized policing and immigration detention that work with military contractors, to police departments that train with the Israeli Occupation Forces.
We know that the U.S. military is the #1 institutional polluter in the world, and that every extra dollar that goes to the Pentagon is killing our planet. We know how sanctions create an over-reliance on the war economy, and that fossil fuel extraction is one of the biggest motivators for warfare.
This year, much of the climate movement knows this. But this information is still buried to many and can be the Elephant in the Room for much of the environmental world. That's why we're going to bring the Elephant in the Room to the march to make sure that no one forgets that peace saves the planet, and we need to resist war, imperialism, colonialism, and genocide for a livable world.
