Children in Gaza Focus of CODEPINK San Francisco’s 18th Annual Mother’s Day March
SAN FRANCISCO - This Mother's Day, the San Francisco CODEPINK chapter will hold its 18th Annual Mother's Day Bridge Walk for Peace to demand essential rights for all children and an end to the genocide in Gaza. The call is clear: every child deserves access to sufficient food, clean water, safe shelter, and skies free from the terror of bombs and warplanes.
As we approach Mother's Day, the annual bridge march reminds us of its original meaning: a global call to ABOLISH WAR. In homage to this spirit, we will read Julia Ward Howe's (1870) Mother's Day Proclamation. The action demands that elected officials prioritize diplomacy over war and allocate resources toward sustenance, not destruction. This year, the focus turns to Palestine, where the demand is apparent: FOOD to GAZA, not WEAPONS to ISRAEL.
"This is more than a march; it's a testament to our shared humanity and unwavering commitment to a better world for all children," said event organizer Toby Blome.
The march begins at 11:45 AM at the Welcome Center Plaza, on the East (Hill) side of the San Francisco end of the bridge. It will begin promptly at noon and culminate in a short rally at 1:30 PM. Attendees are encouraged to arrive 30-40 minutes early, utilizing carpooling or public transportation whenever possible. This is not just any bridge—it is OUR BRIDGE!
All community members, from mamas and grandmamas to sons, daughters, and grandchildren, are invited to join. War is detrimental to children and all living beings.
