As you are reading this, I am on my way to McAllen, TX with the Grannies Respond movement, and longtime CODEPINKers Ann Wright and Leslie Harris. There are hundreds of grannies coming from all over the country to protest our country's horrible immigration policies and Trump’s inhumane detention and separation policies, and we are rising up to resist! For 24 hours, we will engage in service and actions in solidarity with immigrants crossing our borders.
Can you join me? If you are in the area we're meeting at Archer Park in McAllen at 4PM. Come be a part of our actions and service! I would love to see you. If you can’t make it, then please send this tweet and sign this petition against the militarization of our border that is resulting in these inhumane practices.
Grannies Respond have a simple platform that centers around treating others humanely. CODEPINK is tirelessly working with others across the U.S. to address how immigrants and refugees are treated. As a part of our actions in Texas, we’re going to walk in the shoes of those released from detention by walking the Refugee Walk. We’re also going to volunteer in the community, to show solidarity with those coming across the border.
Want to know more about this movement? There has been press coverage in ABC, NPR, WCBS, The Times-Picayune, and more!
Let’s join together to resist the inhumane way our country treats immigrants and rise together in love and action.
I’m so excited to be a part of this community taking action to support immigrants and refugees. I hope to see you soon.
Toward a more just, peaceful, and humane world,
Medea
