Live from Gaza

bernie-sanders-gaza.jpg

Human Rights Watch just released its report on last weekend’s massacre in Gaza. “Israeli soldiers were not merely using excessive force, but were apparently acting on orders that all but ensured a bloody military response to the Palestinian demonstrations.”

It’s outrageous that the Israeli army is using live ammunition to target peaceful protesters. It’s also outrageous that less than a handful of Congressional representatives have raised their voices in condemnation. Help us demand that all members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus speak out against Israel’s killing of peaceful protestors.

Palestinian writer and mother of three, Rana Shubair said of her experience being at the protest: “At that moment, we were all one. Everyone there was united under one flag and one motto: We have a right to return to Palestinians’ historic homeland… Yet as they had threatened, Israeli snipers were positioned to kill these dreamers.”

After the massacre happened —18 dead, over 1,400 wounded — Bernie Sanders called the killings tragic  and Tweeted that “it is the right of all people to protest for a better future without a violent response.” But aside from only a few members, Congress has been silent.

Send a message to the members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus: They must raise their voices in condemnation of the Gaza massacre last weekend and tell Israel to stop pre-authorizing the use of deadly force.

Tomorrow protesters in Gaza will again gather along the border fence. Israel is continuing its policy that soldiers have preauthorization to use deadly force. Now is the time to speak up.

Towards freedom,

Ariel Gold and the entire CODEPINK team

P.S. Join us today at 9am pacific/12pm ET on CODEPINK’s Facebook page for Facebook Live webinar with Gaza residents Ahmed Anaouq and Rana Shubair.
