Sign and share our petition to Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, urging him to take leadership in keeping Trump’s nominee Brett Kavanaugh from being appointed to the Supreme Court:
Dear Chuck Schumer:
As the Senate Democratic leader, you must take leadership to get all of your fellow Democrats and a couple Republicans to vote no on Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh would be a Justice who isn’t just. He approves of detention in Guantanamo Bay, where those in custody are often held without trial for years. He thinks international law has no place in US courts. He supports the unconstitutional use of the Authorization for Use of Military Force which bypasses Congressional authority and causes destruction across the globe.
His opposition to affordable healthcare will undermine the work of the Democratic party and threaten the lives of millions of Americans. The possibility of him overturning Roe v. Wade would risk the lives and rights of women in the US. Kavanaugh takes away people’s choices—from the women whose rights over their own bodies are threatened, to the civilians who face the wars he’s backed.
And yet, nearly two dozen Democrats have not voiced their dissent of Kavanaugh’s nomination. Last week, rather than whipping members of your party and appealing to Republicans like Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski to vote no, you helped Majority Leader Mitch McConnell push 15 of Trump’s judicial nominees into the fast track. This was a move in the wrong direction, and the opposite of what America needs.
Take leadership of your party, and do everything you can to keep Kavanaugh out.
Sincerely,
