CODEPINK to Host Dancing With the "Enemy," Iranian Dance Lessons at the White House to Support Nuclear Deal
Where: In front of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC
When: July 23, 2015 at 5:30 pm
Washington, DC –– In support of the recent nuclear deal struck with Iran, on July 23 at 5:30pm the peace group CODEPINK will host the event Dancing with the "Enemy" in front of the White House with Iranian dancers teaching peace activists and the public Iranian dance moves.
There are many organizations and individuals that support the nuclear deal and want to see peace with Iran. CODEPINK activists want to humanize Iranians by embracing Iranian culture through the form of dance as a way to eliminate prejudice and cultural ignorance –– a critical step in normalizing relations with the Iranian people.
“This is a great opportunity to show support for peaceful diplomatic relations between the United States and Iran,” said CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin. “ The only way to ensure the passing of the Iran deal in Congress is to actively show that this is what the people want. What better place to show your support than in front of the White House?”
Instructors include Iranian Americans Marjan Saghafi Shallal, Mitra M Lore and Farrah Javid. Join us to learn new dances, to hear more about the US-Iran nuclear negotiations, and to have a lot of fun!
Visuals include large “Peace With Iran” and “Support Nuclear Deal With Iran” banners.
