CODEPINK to Host “Hoops not Nukes, Peace with Iran”

Hula Hoop Fun at the White House to Support Nuclear Deal

Where: In front of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC

When: August 4, 2015 at 5:30 pm

Washington, DC –– In support of the recent nuclear deal struck with Iran, on August 3rd at 5:30 pm the peace group CODEPINK will host the event “Hoops not Nukes - Peace with Iran” in front of the White House.

“We'll be out in creative support of President Obama's nuclear negotiations with Iran because the alternative –– war—would be horrific,” said CODEPINK national coordinator Alli McCracken. CODEPINK activists want to humanize Iranians--a critical step in gaining support for the nuclear deal. Their other activities have included Iranian dancing in front of the White House, and they are planning "Dining for Peace" picnics around the country in August.

"The only way to ensure the passing of the Iran nuclear deal in Congress is to actively show that this is what we the people want. What better place to show our support than in front of the White House?," says CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin.

Visuals include large “Peace With Iran” and “Support Nuclear Deal With Iran” banners.
