As data centers rapidly emerge across the U.S., communities nationwide are protesting their devastating environmental and public health impacts, as well as their contribution to skyrocketing utility bills.
To build a long-lasting campaign to fight these poisonous institutions, it is crucial to characterize them accurately. Data centers are both products of and for war, imperialism, and extraction. They exist only as a result of the plunder of resources around the world, from copper in the Congo and Chile to fossil fuels in Venezuela and West Asia. The companies building them are signing multi-million dollar contracts with the Pentagon, as their executives are being appointed to key military positions.
Sign up for resources and next steps from CODEPINK on how to build a joint struggle against data centers and the war economy that drives and supplies them.
