Call your Representative:
My name is ___________ and I am your constituent in zip code_________. As we approach Earth Day, I ask you to publicly oppose and commit to voting against President Biden’s $753-billion military budget, a near 2% increase over Trump’s Pentagon spending. The Pentagon is the largest consumer of oil and largest emitter of fossil fuels warming the earth with greenhouse gases. For this reason and others, Congress should follow the recommendations of the Poor Peoples’ Campaign and CODEPINK to dramatically reduce the military budget, eliminating the approximate $35 billion set aside for new nuclear weapons, which are expected to ultimately exceed a trillion dollars. Please also co-sponsor the following climate bills: H.R.794, the Climate Emergency Act, and H.R.2102, which eliminates fossil fuel subsidies.

Dear Biden administration,
Please add the impact of militarism to the agenda of your virtual world climate summit April 22-23, and all other summits you host or plan. It is imperative that we calculate the carbon emissions of American wars, drone bombings, bases, and troop movements if we are to thwart climate catastrophe.
The Pentagon is the largest consumer of oil and largest emitter of fossil fuels warming the earth with greenhouse gases. For this reason and others, the US should heed the recommendations of the Poor People’s Campaign and CODEPINK to dramatically reduce its military budget.
I am urging my Congress member to vote against your proposed military budget.
Spending over half of our discretionary income on militarism robs us of money best spend to address human needs: housing, health care, job creation, infrastructure repair, and environmental sustainability.
Sincerely,
