SAN FRANCISCO, April 29, 2016 – Long-time CODEPINK peace activist Nancy Mancias disrupted the California Republican Convention in Burlingame this morning to call out racist and xenophobic statements made by GOP Presidential front-runner Donald Trump. Trump’s campaign has featured hate-filled rhetoric towards immigrants, Muslims and women. Perhaps more disturbingly, Trump has encouraged attendees at his rallies to commit violence against peaceful protesters, and his supporters have responded, committing violent assaults against protesters on multiple occasions.
“It is unconscionable that one of the two major parties would even be considering nominating a hate-monger like Donald Trump to be its Presidential nominee,” said Mancias. “There is no place in the Presidential race for the racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant rhetoric he has consistently spewed at his rallies and public appearances. As if his blatant hate speech were not bad enough, he has gone even farther by encouraging his supporters to commit violent assault against peaceful protesters. Every American should be standing up and saying ‘No. Not in my country! Stop hate, dump trump!’”
