Chinese national Chaofeng Ge died in ICE custody under inhumane conditions, and no investigation has been launched into his death. Sign the petition requesting Pennsylvanian Representatives Summer Lee and Mary Gay Scanlon to call on Congress to investigate Ge's suspicious death.

Dear Representatives Summer Lee and Mary Gay Scanlon,

We, the undersigned, thank you for your leadership and your recent efforts to gain access to the Moshannon Valley Processing Center. Your attempt to conduct oversight despite being denied entry demonstrates a clear commitment to the protection of vulnerable people in federal custody. We are deeply grateful for the steps you have already taken to seek the truth about what is happening inside this facility.

We now respectfully ask that you take the next step by urging Congress to launch a full and independent investigation into the suspicious death of Chaofeng Ge, a Chinese national who died while detained in ICE custody at Moshannon.

Chaofeng Ge was taken by ICE in August and found dead only five days later. Initial reports claimed he had a cloth ligature around his neck. However, an autopsy later obtained by his family revealed something far more disturbing: he had been hog-tied, with his hands and feet bound behind his back. While in custody, Ge also had no access to Mandarin-language communication and reportedly received no mental or physical health care.

His death is not an isolated tragedy. It is one of at least 25 deaths in ICE custody in the past year, underscoring a broader pattern of violence, neglect, and systemic abuse, particularly toward Chinese nationals. From the political targeting of scholars under the China Initiative to the harassment of visiting Chinese graduate workers at the University of Michigan, federal policies have created an environment of suspicion that endangers lives, careers, and basic human dignity.

We urge you to call on Congress to conduct a full investigation into the death of Chaofeng Ge, including the conditions of his detention and the circumstances surrounding his treatment.

Your continued leadership is essential. Chaofeng Ge, and countless others, have suffered under a system that operates without transparency or accountability. Justice requires not only mourning these losses, but acting decisively to prevent more.

With gratitude and in the pursuit of peace,
