This training will take place over two and a half days, as we dig into the history, art and science of designing effective actions and what makes people power work. This is a training for trainers, specially developed to support organizers who will take these skills back to their organizations. We’ll put the “creative” in creative action by examining a host of outside-the-box tactics from projections to prefigurative interventions. Includes our signature Beautiful Trouble presentation; time to apply a strategic methodology for creative action planning to your own current campaigns; Action Planning & Logistics tools + tricks, and the innovative “Beautiful Trouble: Card Game!”
What to Expect
Beautiful Trouble trainings are a dynamic mix of hands-on group exercises, powerful presentations, strategic brainstorms, and other skill-building activities designed to empower and engage folks to be smarter, more creative, more resourced organizers. All this based in Popular Education principles and experiential interactive exercises. Come open to working across issue areas to build the LA network of activists and broader movement.
About Beautiful Trouble
We haven’t stopped making trouble since 2011, when 70 campaigners and cultural workers collectively authored the book Beautiful Trouble (which has now sold over 20,000 copies and been translated into six languages.) As of 2018, our growing global training team has hosted more than 200 trainings. Our extraordinary alliance of artists, trainers and creative campaigners are working to equip our many movements with the most innovative creative tactics and best practices rooted in the intention to not only serve these communities but build solidarity across movement networks and support systems.
