On Thursday, February 19th, Donald Trump held the first meeting of the Board of "Peace." He promised $10 billion of U.S. taxpayer money to the initiative, which includes plans to build skyscrapers in Rafah, to immediately deploy an International Stabilization Force of over 20,000 troops, and to have Gaza be "self-governed" within a decade. Members of this sham Board of "Peace" — leaders from two dozen countries — attended. While Palestinians don't even have a seat at the table, Israel does.
At the meeting, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who is on the board, vowed $70 million to "drive recovery and peace through football." FIFA is complicit in the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and it is no surprise that one of the World Cup's supporters this year is Airbnb. Airbnb has partnered with FIFA and the World Cup to provide $750 vouchers to anyone who rents out their home to fans traveling to attend matches.
For years, CODEPINK has been calling on Airbnb to stop listing properties in Israeli settlements, because not only does it further entrench settler colonialism, it also normalizes Western companies profiting off Palestinian suffering. Let's urge them to no longer align with genocide and to cancel their partnership with FIFA!
