    i think we should also query each candidate on the increasingly ominous signs of stepped-up u.s. aggressions on venezuela and iran:
    on venezuela : do you support an end to the sanctions which have killed 40,000 people in the last 2 years ? do you oppose u.s. military intervention ?
    on iran : do you support returning to the treaty that trump renounced ? do you support an end to the sanctions on iran ?

    The doubling of the military budget subject to the 911 terrorist attack has subjected this nation to a trillion $$$$ plus annual tribute to war! This insane bleeding of our national budget for contrived and unnecessary wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine which equals similar war costs to WWI and WWII and is by no means sustainable! Our nation’s enslavement to war will necessitate the continued thievery of our own people’s necessities in favor of our throwing away of our nation’s budget to subject all people’s of the world to our war planners, engineers, and profiteers insane war conundrums. If these war engineers, manufacturers, and profiteers succeeded in making the world subject to our whims, do you think that war would end? For these greedy warlords, there is no success like failure and for us there is the stench and putridity of paying incessantly for failure.

    It’s time to recognize and openly admit that these dis-United States of America have taken the form of an empire and it’s not representative of the people, regardless of which of the two corrupt political parties are in charge. We are overdue for a revolution to reset the course of this nation before we alienate ALL of the nations of the world. We have zero business either globalizing the world economy or setting up military bases in hundreds of foreign nations. That is nowhere is our charter. We are NOT in control of our government! Revolution is the solution!.

    Its becoming clearer with each passing day that the military is NOT under the control of any functional civilian control. It’s becoming Trump’s police force with his appointment of cronies with zero military experience but with oodles of military contracting and lobbying experience. This is as dangerous as it gets for the nation. BRING THE MILITARY BACK UNDER SOME REASONABLE AND INTELLIGENT CIVILIAN CONTROL! NOW!!

    The Pentagon is losing everywhere ….. The Pentagon is our enemy.
    Terrorism is similar to pearl production …. you get a grain of irritation and use it to create layer after layer of support, which soon feeds itself. Remove the grain of irritation (ISRAEL) and the pearl of terrorism would quit growing and melt away. How do you remove the irritation? Quit giving Israel weapons and money. Within 5 minutes Israel would “learn” to live in harmony with it’s “semitic brothers” ….
    Bin Laden allegedly quoted the following passage: “If I were president, I could stop terrorist attacks against the United States in a few days. Permanently. I would first apologize – very publicly and sincerely – to all the widows and orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, and the many millions of other victims of American imperialism. Then I would announce to every corner of the world that America’s global military interventions have come to an end.” The quote is from Blum’s 2004 book Freeing the World to Death: Essays on the American Empire,
    In 2001 there were a few hundred terrorists, mostly just barefoot illiterates with small bases in Afghanistan and Somalia with NO presence in Iraq. Now, thanks to the superior war fighting skills and knowledge of the Military Geniuses in the Pentagon there are tens of thousands with strongholds in Libya, Nigeria, Yemen, Somalia, Syria/Iraq, Afghanistan,Pakistan, etc.
    Thanks to Abu Graihb,Guantanamo, Secret Dungeons out of the Feudal Dark Ages ……… Thanks to OUR misconduct and stupidity.
    Terrorism is CRIMINAL not “warfare” and must be handled as criminal in order or it will matastise. This is proven by the complete and total failure of America’s “war on terror”
    The entire purpose of terrorism is to provoke an OVER reaction by the target …..in order to create sympathy and allies for your cause. As we have seen since 9/11 ….. they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. We have created terrorist recruits everywhere thanks to Abu Graihb, Guantanamo,torture.
    (1) Terrorism is defined as “the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims”. So terrorists exaggerate their destructive abilities in order to increase intimidation and push their aims (2) The more damage people believe that a terrorist group has inflicted, the more donations and funding they will receive from radical extremists. Specifically, radicals are more likely to fund terrorists who are “effective” in inflicting damage than those who can’t pull off murder and mayhem
    Terrorism works especially well when we have so many people with a vested interest in it’s success. Politicians, intelligence agencies and law enforcement reap far greater rewards than a meagre 72 virgins and apparently it is also for eternity. I promise you there are some very rich people now that have plenty to show for it. Every “War on (whatever)” builds profits for somebody, and that’s why those wars never end.
    The true Terrorist’s are the governments that use this shit to justify the sacrifice of YOUR rights at the alter of Politics.
    “A tactic of using violence more for psychological purposes than for physical damage and that is intended primarily to delegitimize a regime by showing it to be ineffectual or by inciting it to overreact.”
    12/30/2018 The US-led coalition has published the latest casualty figures for its airstrikes in Iraq and Syria since the start of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2014. At least 1,139 civilians have been “unintentionally” killed by coalition strikes, the statement said. The death toll, presented monthly by the US, has been repeatedly challenged by Amnesty International. The group says that the coalition was “deeply in denial” about the “large number of civilians killed and injured by [its] strikes.” GEE, why do they HATE us? What would YOU do?
    9/11 killed 3,000 people in 2001. 30,000 people committed suicide in 2001. Every self-serving politician will grandstand about terrorism. None will grandstand about suicide prevention.As part of the endless “war on terror”, Orwellian surveillance is increasingly forced on an unwilling public.
    -—————————
    When we allow government(s) (or anyone) to change definitions of words to suit themselves, we are actively allowing them to “socially engineer” the general populace. As with crime/terrorism, you’ll find that the great majority of the country has already accepted that damned near ANY federal crime can be justly prosecuted as terrorism. Hell, look at the acceptance of “secret evidence” the etiology of the word “evidence” is “out” (exposed) “to be seen”.
    -——————
    Terrorism exploits three glitches in human nature, all related to the management and perception of unusual events. The first and key among these has been observed over the last two decades by neurobiologists and behavioral scientists, who have debunked a great fallacy that has marred Western thinking since Aristotle and most acutely since the Enlightenment. That is to say that as much as we think of ourselves as rational animals, risk avoidance is not governed by reason, cognition or intellect. Rather, it comes chiefly from our emotional system.
    -————————-
    The amount of resources Bin Laden spent to move forward with his plan was nothing compared to the US response. So much money, time, freedom and even our morals has been lost in reaction for just a single event with nearly nothing to show for it.
    -—————————-
    the biggest problems with the ‘remedies’ that are supposed to prevent terrorist attacks are that they are almost the same as the terrorist acts themselves with almost the same effects as the terrorist acts themselves. the difference is no carnage (thank goodness) but real delays and inconvenience. terrorists use shoes, everyone else then has to remove shoes. it’s the same with belts, with food, with bottles of liquid, the list is endless. on top of which we now have more and more surveillance (which will never be enough for governments until it is total) and it is being used for everything now, not just to try to prevent terrorist attacks but for letting governments know everything possible every day of every persons life under the banner of trying to ‘keep us safe’, the people are now being subjected to lives where there is no privacy and no freedom, just what bin laden said would happen. in actual fact, there is no need for terrorism because we are terrorising ourselves and our own governments are doing the rest!

    The total actual military budget is about $1.2 trillion per year. It should and can be cut immediately to half that – $600 Billion. The Pentagon can close 500 of it’s bases of which there are nearly 1000 around the world. They can also start real accounting and be subject to audits like every other government Department.

    If our Representatives in Congress applied the same kind of oversight and penny-pinching to the war budget that they do to social programs, $600 billion in cuts would just be an aperitif.

    Of course, the real issue here are the massive and historically unprecedented BRIBES that our country is awash in. There is no question that the US is the most corrupt nation in the history of the planet. Until lobbying and bribing is made strictly illegal or all politicians voluntarily refuse to accept bribes, the US will continue it’s downwards spiral into oblivion.

    As I’ve written before, there’s no country the U.S. can’t negotiate with. From Bush II to Nobel Peace Prize winning Dronebama and now Trump, this country’s foreign policies has been hijacked by an elite cabal of Vietnam War draft dodgers, corrupt foreign governments like Israel and Saudi Arabia who are as inhumane as the governments they want us to “liberate”, and politicians and lobbyists funded by the MIC who just to make a fortune on the lives of black and brown peoples who’ve never been a threat to us – all of this without any thought of the inevitable blow-back to the world in terms of refugees and terrorism. The post-Berlin Wall uni-polar world so beloved by non-serving think tank chicken hawks is over and it’s time all the superpowers learned to get along in a multi-polar world.

    Personally, I think this cut request is WAY TOO SMALL!!! Once you recognize that the 717 billion excludes a whole mass of military spending, with apparently brings real spending in at around 1 trillion per year…. we really need to be listing those “extra” expenses every time when speaking about the MIC and the budget. I’ll have to go back and read that list for myself… www.worldbeyondwar.org has these figures in their materials.

    Cut the War Budget for a Green New Deal
    Support a conversion from a weapons economy to a climate-saving economy
    The U.S. military budget is 3 times that of Russia’s and China’s combined,
    and therefore can be cut in half without sacrificing national security. *
    The $717 billion annual military budget is a threat to our national security because:
    1. The use of these weapons creates enemies instead of reducing them;
    2. All the U.S. wars of the last 60 years have been wars of aggression, not defense; *
    3. The U.S. military is the world’s largest single generator of climate changing emissions;
    4. The U.S. wars for petroleum keeps us using fossil fuel instead of renewable energy;
    5. The manufacture of weapons burns up over $300 billion worth of oil annually;
    6. U.S. encirclement of Russia and China threatens peaceful trade and prosperity for all; *
    *
    7. A planned $1.7 trillion upgrade of nuclear weapons makes them more likely to be used.
    8. The profiteering U.S. war budget is an attack on the health and security of everyone.

    We need jobs in clean energy, not more weapons
    Maryland is a perfect example of a warfare economy since the export of Baltimore’s heavy industry.
    The best jobs are now at the National Security Administration, Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Detrick, Andrews Air Force Base, Edgewood Arsenal, Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center, U.S. Naval Academy, National Guard and Air National Guard, Army reserves, school ROTC, JHU Applied Physics Lab, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed-Martin, Fairchild, Raytheon, and hundreds of sub-contractors – all having bosses and workers who support military expenditures.
    The U.S. is responsible for the deaths of 20 million people in 37 countries since WWII.*
    The 2 existential threats to continued life on earth are “climatastrophe” and nuclear war.*
    Let’s tell politicians to prove they are not being bought by weapons manufacturers. Tell them to cut weapons production and support a Green New Deal instead,
    which employ more workers per Federal dollar spent than does weapons-making. *
