We are joining dozens of partnering organizations for the Peace Walk in Washington DC. From the organizers:
"This year for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are focusing on action. Martin Luther King III, Andrea Waters King, and Yolanda Renee King, along with faith leaders, civil rights leaders, and voting rights advocates, will join together to demand voting rights legislation now.
Our leaders have a historic opportunity to restore and protect our right to vote by passing the Freedom to Vote Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
From the Civil War to the Jim Crow era, the filibuster has blocked popular bills to stop lynching, end poll taxes, and fight workplace discrimination. Now it’s being used to block voting rights. The weaponization of the filibuster is racism cloaked in procedure and it must go.
There’s no time to wait - we honor Dr. King with action."
