Boycotts are vital to social justice movements. From the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the Delano Grape Boycott of the U.S. to the boycotts of apartheid South Africa, it is a person's right to free speech to decide where they will spend their money. Thirty-six states in the U.S. have passed anti-BDS bills, meant to stifle boycotts of the state of Israel. It is important for the community to better understand how these anti-boycott laws affect them and how they will be used against them if they are not repealed.
