Maersk: Cut Ties with Genocide!

GENOCIDE!_(1).png

BREAKING: On June 23, 2025 Maersk announced that the company is cutting ties with companies (97 of them!) linked to illegal Israeli settlements. This is a historic victory — and we need to keep the pressure on Maersk to yield more wins like these!

CODEPINK is partnering with Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) in the #MaskOffMaersk campaign to pressure the shipping company Maersk to cut ties with Israel. Maersk facilitates the shipment of weapons to Israel and profits off genocide in Palestine. We echo PYM’s demand for Maersk to cut ties with Israel and end its complicity in the genocide of Palestinians!

As of June of 2025, after 20 months of facilitating genocide in Gaza, Maersk suspended military cargo shipments to Israel’s largest seaport due to safety concerns. Maersk should have stopped shipments to Israel months ago and listened to global demands to cut ties with genocide. Now, Maersk must turn this suspension into a total ban on military cargo shipments to Israel.

Send a letter stating these demands to Maersk’s leadership using the template below and then add your name to the petition below to Maersk’s leadership stating our demands! Once you sign the petition, you’ll be taken to a page with instructions and resources to call Maersk directly and state your demands!

Maersk and Maersk Line Executives,

Israel has committed some of the worst atrocities against the Palestinian people during its genocide campaign in Gaza that began in October 2023. It is overdue that Maersk cut ties with the genocidal state of Israel.

We, the undersigned, demand that Maersk align its business practices with global human rights standards. We are deeply concerned with Maersk's transportation of military cargo for the Israeli Military which is used to completely vaporize children, and annihilate entire families. The entire world has been pleading for an end to this genocide, and Maersk has the power to halt the the supply of Israel’s military cargo, so why haven’t you?

After 20 months of facilitating genocide in Gaza, Maersk suspended military cargo shipments to Israel’s largest seaport due to safety concerns caused by Israel’s impulsive, illegal attacks on Iran. Maersk should have stopped shipments to Israel months ago and listened to global demands to cut ties with genocide. Now, Maersk must turn this suspension into a total ban on military cargo shipments to Israel!

We know you’ve seen the horrific videos of Palestinians being burned alive, and innocent people being ripped to shreds by the weapons you send to Israel. Since October 2023, over 250,000 Palestinians have been murdered in Gaza — a massive underestimation. By shipping military cargo to Israel, Maersk continues the genocide of Palestinians. We know you ship military goods to the Israeli Ministry of Defense and that has been confirmed by Spain turning around two of your ships on November 7th. Your company has the blood of Palestinians on its hands!

Maersk claims it’s a diversity and inclusion employer and aims to be carbon neutral by 2040. How can Maersk justify shipping military cargo that is destined for the mass murder of people in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria while claiming to be concerned with social justice and equality? The complete destruction of the entire civilian infrastructure in Gaza, the razing of farming areas and the poisonous impact of the enormous tonnage of explosives that has been dropped on the people of Gaza will have immense environmental impacts on the lived environment. Maersk can not espouse the values of diversity and inclusion or environmental consciousness whilst actively enabling the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

Maersk, do not be complicit in genocide and war crimes. You’ve already suspended operations to Israel’s largest seaport — now end the transportation of military cargo that enables the genocide of Palestinians. We urge Maersk executives to immediately review and discontinue operations that support Israel's military activities through cargo transport. We demand Maersk’s board terminates contracts with defense-related entities that facilitate this genocide, including the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

So, Maersk, the entire world is watching — are you going to listen to the demands of the people and stand on the right side of history or will you allow your company to carry the stain of genocide forever?

Sincerely,
