The rise of militarism and the climate crisis are intertwined. The U.S. military is the world’s largest oil consumer and causes more greenhouse gas emissions than 140 nations combined. In addition, over 64% of our government’s discretionary spending is siphoned off to the Pentagon every year. While the private weapons companies that the Pentagon contracts with continue to place their short-term profit above the future of our planet. Funding endless war is an existential threat to human life and one of the leading causes of climate change. Together, we can demand an end to militarism and the harm it causes our planet while also diverting funds from the Pentagon to much-needed social services and a massive upscaling of our renewable, clean energy infrastructure.
